Bridging Worlds: Cheong Soo Pieng (2011)

Exhibition Design

With over 300 varied artworks showcased, the environmental graphics were kept discreet so as to not overload visitors, except for a bold venture to use two contrasting typefaces for the exhibition title in the words “Bridging” and “Worlds”.

The Bridging Worlds Exhibition was dedicated to Cheong Soo Pieng at Singapore Art Museum. With over 300 varied artworks showcased, the environmental graphics were kept discreet so as to not overload visitors, except for a bold venture to use two contrasting typefaces for the exhibition title in the words “Bridging” and “Worlds”. The decision was inspired by the avid traveller, whose artworks were deeply influenced by his travels and fused Eastern and Western techniques. The proper choices of typefaces ensured that comfortable consistency and balance in typographic colour could be achieved throughout the exhibition that was not inappropriately distracting.
