Do Not Disturb—Late Checkout, Please (2011)

Theatre Design

Set in the confined spaces of a bedroom, the bed is arguably the most significant element of the stage setting. One of the challenges of designing a bed set for the production was creating a flexible and convertible one in order to facilitate smooth transition between scenes.

The Press Room partnered with Tan Kheng Hua and Janice Koh in theatre production Do Not Disturb—Late Checkout, Please as production designer. Set in the confined spaces of a bedroom, the bed is arguably the most significant element of the stage setting. One of the challenges of designing a bed set for the production was creating a flexible and convertible one in order to facilitate smooth transition between scenes. Photographs used in the publicity collateral were shot in the bedroom set, under dim lighting, with the actors in close-up, to communicate the close intimacy and the vulnerability of intrusion that the characters experienced.
